Concord
Litho prints more than 50 million sheets of gift wrap annually,
primarily for non-profit organizations who leverage them in their
fundraising and outreach efforts. Above is a photo of the company's
eco-friendly holiday gift wrap -- printed with veggie inks on FSC-certified
paper on a heat-set web -- that was mailed to customers and friends.
Fun fact:
Magenta has the highest soy content (of CMYK) in the inks we use for
heat-set web printing.

Concord Litho Expands 'Green Printing'
Program, Earns FSC Chain of Custody Certification
December 7, 2007 – Concord Litho, one of the country’s top
independent printing companies, earned its Forest Stewardship Council
chain of custody certification (#SCS-COC-001191) last quarter, allowing
the firm to expand its “Green Printing Options” program for its national
customer base.
“Corporate,
social, and environmental responsibility begins with basic choices and
strategies -- and for print buyers that includes the paper you procure,
your inks, and the format of your printed piece,” says Peter Cook, 40,
CEO and co-owner of Concord Litho, a $43 million printer located an hour
north of Boston. “Many of our clients are seeking eco-friendly,
responsible production options, and this certification means we can now
offer another paper choice beyond recycled and post-consumer content …
they can specify paper from conflict-free, well-managed forests.”
Concord Litho achieved its certification in early September after
successfully completing a comprehensive audit by Scientific
Certification Systems, an FSC-approved certifying body based in
California. Valid for five years subject to annual audits, this
certification means Concord Litho can offer its customers the option of
using FSC-certified paper from well-managed forests and the right to
display the trademarked “checkmark-and-tree” FSC logo on the printed
piece that indicates its eco-friendly status and compliance.
Concord Litho’s first job featuring FSC-certified paper was a newsletter
project produced for longtime client Prudential Financial. It has since
produced a variety of eco-friendly projects using FSC-certified paper,
from large-format Point of Purchase signage to a holiday gift wrap
collection printed with vegetable-based inks.
