Director of Manufacturing
This key individual is responsible for the oversight of all activities, personnel and resources in establishing the strategy and direction of manufacturing operations to meet the business demands of the organization. You will provide leadership and direction to manufacturing departments in support of plant initiatives by providing strong management and guidance to implement manufacturing systems, modify facilities and improve business processes.
In this busy position, you’ll provide manufacturing expertise, leadership and counsel to the organization in directing overall plant performance through strong management, professional development and effective communication of resources and staff to achieve high performance work culture. You’ll participate in activities and discussions at the executive level of the organization to guide the company’s growth and planning of the business. You will establish clear and consistent lines of communication with the executive team that educate the senior company leadership team on overall progress, issues and challenges of manufacturing operations with accuracy and timeliness.
You will also formulate and recommend productivity policies and programs, technology investment, and cost management that guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and profitability. You’ll be responsible for planning and initiating major projects (e.g., plant layout changes, installation of capital equipment, major repairs, etc.) and identifying and delegating to appropriate staff to manage and drive projects. Additionally, you should be able to develop and direct solutions to promote continuous improvement initiatives of overall plant operations and line performance while leading the organization’s achievement of quality and safety components in manufacturing operations. This includes developing, leading, and implementing Lean manufacturing principles and culture. You should lead and direct effective interactions and positive cooperation through work relationships between all levels of the organization as topics relate to manufacturing to achieve business goals optimizing manufacturing output, quality, scheduling, reliability, safety and cost variance and waste objectives.
Our ideal candidate will have strong leadership capabilities as well as a strong business acumen and teambuilding skills. You should possess a BA/BS in industrial, mechanical or business administration, or a 4-year technical degree in related discipline. You must have 10+ years of experience in manufacturing management, preferably in a process-oriented operations and/or related industry and a minimum of 5 years of experience managing a significant segment of a large manufacturer or the entire operation of a smaller manufacturer. You will also have a minimum of 5 years of experience providing executive level management in a wide range of disciplines and/or departments in a (web) printing and direct mail manufacturing environment. Experience with managing a digital printing operation is a plus.
Concord Litho is a direct response printer that provides winning direct marketing packages to a variety of clients, from retail to fundraising. We consistently provide our clients with an exceptional level of expertise and personal service. We are currently seeking a Lettershop Manager to join our team!
This key individual is responsible for the accurate and timely production of mail pieces and other personalized items. Activities carried out within the department include imaging of both mail and personalized pieces via inkjet systems, insertion of flat and folded pieces into envelopes for mailing, card affixing, hand mail sortation, hand inserting, and completing postal paperwork & reporting requirements. The lettershop produces mailings for insertion at the Post Office and drop shipments for remote insertion around the country via third party mail forwarder and freight companies.
In this busy position, you’ll manage the scheduling, and daily work prioritization of the lettershop staff and equipment to maintain an effective and efficient capability to prepare mail and personalized items. As the leader of the department, you should have a thorough and complete understanding of USPS rules and regulations to ensure our lettershop operations are compliant and consistent with USPS standards. This includes fostering a close and positive working relationship with the USPS to ensure we are alerted to any regulation or USPS operational changes that may affect our operations or our customers’ mailing habits. You’ll also work closely with customers, sales staff, and various production departments to foster and develop an efficient set of processes and procedures for completing the lettershop workload in a timely manner. Additionally, you will manage the Lettershop staff, identifying and facilitating any required education, training, and professional development to ensure Concord Litho retains a competitive edge in lettershop processes and activities.
You should have a high motivation to deliver a quality product on time, every time and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle rapidly-changing work requirements. You should have a Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years experience in lettershop or mailing-related data processing activities or equivalent experience and at least 5 years of supervisory experience. You should also have the following:
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and customers.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane geometry and the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Knowledge of presort software capabilities and limitations is highly desirable, lean manufacturing a plus.
Second Shift Foreman
The main duties of this role include working with production, sales and clients to achieve customer satisfaction on every job we print. You will ensure that all web personnel support, respect and follow company policies and procedures pertaining to workflow, deadlines, attention to detail, recordkeeping, quality, documentation, and safety. You will also coach and provide feedback to web personnel to assist them in reducing production time, cost, errors and preventing work injuries consistent with the goals of the company. You will review press analysis sheets at end of shift and follow up on all notations, and maintain shift to shift communication with other shift foremen. Additionally, you’ll be responsible for implementing a formal training program that helps departmental staff to work in a consistent manner, standardizes procedures, aides in identifying root cause through problem elimination and focuses on job safety. Last, you will support our quality process, ensuring our clients receive a top-notch product every time. You will always lead by example.
You should have a high motivation to deliver a quality product on time, every time and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle rapidly-changing work requirements. High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related work experience of five to ten years and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience desired. Ability to cover peer vacation, supervise overtime needs and start shift a half hour before and stay a half hour after scheduled shift.
Press Room - ALL Positions
The main responsibilities for our Pressman roles include setting up, maintaining and running web presses. In this busy role, you will review schedules and jobs prior to press time, read and understand job tickets and layout, and thoroughly communicate a set Make-ready Plan with press crew to assure Make-ready efficiency. You will properly maintain equipment for optimum performance according to established press preventive maintenance procedures and communicate in writing to supervisors any maintenance required for the equipment. Additionally, you will maintain accuracy of all raw material consumption reports (paper, ink and adhesives). You will also make sure proper packing and labeling materials are available and at press for the job, and that packing is in accordance with job ticket requirements.
High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience as a pressman highly desirable. You should be able to resolve problems in a logical manner and work efficiently in a high paced environment. A focus on producing a superior product is a must. You must be able to work overtime, including working 12 hour shifts if needed.
