All About Scented Varnishes
Concord Litho was the first official sheetfed and web printing test site for the application of microencapsulated Scentisphere™ scented varnishes, far superior to old scratch-n-sniff technology.
Studies show that scented ads yield higher response versus identical unscented ads. Now you can leverage a wide range of scents—from springtime grass to hot apple pie—to engage your target audience on a whole new level.
Concord Litho has been successfully printing with scented varnishes for more than five years, from high-end fragrance samples, to product launches featuring new scents and flavors, to greeting cards and custom gift wrap. Our customers are achieving up to 24% response with these new varnishes!
We also won a printing excellence award for a chocolate-scented Charlie and the Chocolate Factory DVD insert that smelled good enough to eat!
Pickle-Scented Shrek wins Top Honors
Concord Litho took home three prizes at the annual Printing Industries of New England Awards of Excellence ceremony, including a crystal Pinnacle for a kids Valentine's Day card project featuring the DreamWorks character Shrek, who – thanks to a clear coat of scented varnish – smells like dill pickles.
Produced for Paper Magic Group, the Shrek project won top honors in the largest division for the Special Finishing – Inks, Coatings and Fragrances category; it was produced on one of Concord Litho's five heat-set web presses, and features dill pickle Rub 'N Smell scented varnish. The awards ceremony was held November 6 in Framingham, Massachusetts.
Concord Litho, also won two Awards of Merit in the Cards category for Division IV: another card in the Paper Magic Group Valentines series that featured characters from "The Bee Movie" and honeycomb scented varnish, and an eco-friendly project produced on Concord Litho's large-format KBA sheetfed press for a local greeting card company.
